BEC Tero coach Kenny Shiels addressed assembled journalists this afternoon, as part of an official Toyota Thai Premier League media event at the National Stadium in Bangkok.

Speaking ahead of his first competitive game in charge of BEC Tero, Shiels said,

"Any first match with a new team is a new experience and I am really looking forward to it. Chainat will be a tough opponent, as they are very close to us in the league table."

Shiels went on to respond to a question relating to how preparations for the game have gone, particularly how he has managed with several key international figures absent due to the SEA Games and World Cup qualifiers.

"It's been quite difficult," said Shiels. "I have been here for 4 weeks and as yet I have only worked with half the squad. Football is all about building relationships and we have been deprived of that opportunity a little. But it's all been worth it and we as a club are so proud of what our players have achieved for Thailand, especially the Under-23 players.

Shiels added he had no knowledge of players' club performances being affected in the past following international action, and was concentrating on the next 48 hours to get the group together and prepare for Saturday's game.

"Football is all about entertainment and the club's supporters. We want to entertain those who pay to come and watch us. Hopefully we can combine that entertainment with some results." Shiels said.
